Mocha Mousse – January

Color of the Year – Mocha Mousse 17-1230

For more than a quarter of a century, Pantone has named a color of the year. This year’s color is Mocha Mousse.

“A mellow brown infused with a sensorial comforting warmth.”

While I tend not to wear many neutrals, I am fond of this rich chocolatey vibe with undertones that I think will mix nicely with many colors.

As in the past, brands and designers alike will start to offer few, or many, items in this color or a related shade. Bottom line is warm browns will be in this year and I have already tracked down a few items that are worth a glance.

BRAHMIN Dayan Bag

With an entire line of bags in this color combination, from buckets to wallets, you are bound to find one that suits your style.

DRIES VAN NOTEN Pleated Wool-Gabardine Midi Skirt

From day to evening, from pumps to rugged boots, this versatile skirt is bound to be on repeat in my closet. The gorgeous drape in wool-gabardine ensures a perfect three -season pick; making the cost-per-wear a bit more palpable.

It may seem basic at first glance but this dress from COS is anything but. Pockets, zip front, seaming and flattering length, I can see this over pants, with tights and boots or belted. And if you are like me, and this shade drains every ounce of color out of your face, then add a bright blouse, scarf or turtleneck and matching bag.

For a subtle touch of mocha…just to say you got the memo.
